About jennifer

USEF ‘S’ dressage judge Jennifer Roth is an accomplished rider, trainer, and instructor with more than 45 years experience teaching the art of classical and competitive dressage. Jennifer's passion for dressage is demonstrated in her insightful and innovative teaching style, which is based on classical principles and influenced by the years she has spent training with some of the world’s most renowned dressage trainers.

Jennifer has competed numerous horses to USDF championships, and Horse of the Year awards at both national and FEI levels. Her students have followed suit, with many successes, highlights of which include winning the USEF Championships for Dressage Equitation (Champion and reserve Champion), and a Silver Medal at the NAJYRC. Many of her students have achieved USDF Bronze, Silver, and Gold medals.

Through her relationship with Charles de Kunffy in the late 1960’s - early 70’s, Jennifer became involved with the first warmblood horses imported to the United States. She began  importing horses in the mid-1980s and has imported or assisted clients importing  horses from Germany, Holland, Romania, Hungary, Spain, Portugal and France.

A breeder of Lipizzan horses since 1990, Jennifer is highly experienced in working with Baroque horses. For nearly 20 years she hosted five-day clinics with Andreas Hausberger, Chief Rider of the Spanish Riding School in Vienna. Herr Hausberger is current trainer to numerous internationally successful riders including German Dressage Team members Jessica von Bredow-Werndl and Soenke Rothenberger. Jennifer enjoys working with a varied range of horses and specializes in bringing out the best in less traditional dressage breeds. One Regional Championship-winning team included a Quarter Horse, an Appaloosa, a mixed-breed pony, and a Friesian!

In 2015 Jennifer relocated her Across the Diagonal Farm from Carmel Valley, California to Tryon, NC where she has her own private facilities and also teaches out of out of several nearby farms which feature covered arenas. Jennifer enjoys teaching horses and riders at any level for competitive dressage or to enhance their partnership for other disciplines, and she has a thorough understanding of horse and rider biomechanics. She relates this knowledge in a forthright way combined with patience, understanding and encouragement regardless of training level, breed or competitive goals. From longe lessons to work in-hand, starting horses and children, to helping event riders improve their dressage and dressage riders achieve their goals at the highest level of the sport, Jennifer is passionate about helping riders achieve harmony with their beloved horses!
